JBX

Does your company have a rising star or two?

Sure you do. Let JBX help develop your high potential team members in a stimulating environment in which visionaries become leaders. JBX prepares the next generation of construction leaders through relationship and team building with like-minded up and coming industry leaders. JBX members share problems, develop solutions, and work collaboratively through educational and social programs that cultivate their natural talents and leadership potential. JBX’s calendar of events is designed to encourage JBX and Builders Exchange member interaction. Typical events include:

  • Educational/Leadership programs
  • Mixers
  • Local Project Reviews
  • Annual Golf Outing in support of the Mary Parkes Asthma Center

Good relationships equal better projects, and those relationships start early with the JBX. We’ve been known to settle change orders over beers and negotiate subcontracts over coffee.

During much of that time Mark volunteered both on jobsites and on the ReStore Committee for Flower City Habitat for Humanity. In 2017, Mark officially joined the ReStore staff as the Donations Coordinator, after which his initial duties quickly transitioned to the role of Procurement & Special Projects Manager. On top of his previous responsibilities to solicit donations for the purpose of resale, Mark also handles the acquisition of both vacant lots for new construction and “zombie” houses for the purpose of rehabilitation, collaborating with the City of Rochester on neighborhood initiatives, assembling and implementing a ReStore Kitchen Deconstruct program, and assisting the Development and Construction teams with various initiatives.

When not focusing on the Habitat Mission of bringing partners together to build homeownership, develop stronger communities, and encourage hope, or organizing lively JBX events, Mark spends much of his time these days holding impromptu dance parties with his little girl and admiring his baby boy as he grows.

The Junior Builders Exchange is honored to present the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Western New York Chapter with a check for $3,500! This year JBX had the privilege of supporting The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as our 2019 Charity. We participated in events like the Great Strides Walk and Cycle for Life. We had FIVE Young Professionals honored as CFF Rochester’s Finest Honorees; who helped raise $79,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We also raised money through our annual JBX Volleyball Tournament, Bocce Tournament and JBX Kickball for a Cause Tournament for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

2019 was exciting year for the Cystic Fibrosis Community with the FDA approval of the three-drug combination, called Trikafta – A new cystic fibrosis therapy dramatically improved patients’ lung function and showed clear signs of targeting the genetic root of the disease, instead of just alleviating symptoms. The drug could benefit 90 percent of patients with the disease, a major advance over previous drugs that worked in a tiny fraction of the people with the disease or had more modest effects.

We are beyond thankful for this partnership with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and look forward to partnering with them in new and unique ways in the future! Thank you to all our members and partners that helped make this donation possible!
