Construction / Fiber Crew Lead –– Rochester, NY

Greenlight Networks is actively recruiting for a Crew Leader to join our growing in-house construction team at our headquarters in Rochester, NY. This position will work hand in hand with our Linemen crew  and act as the point person for the team to managing escalated issues, answer questions, facilitate on the job training and managing work assignments. This role is critical to the buildout of our network providing our communities with the Best Internet Experience allowing our Customers the Freedom to Work, Play and Live without Limits.

Specific Job Functions Include:

  • Reading and maintaining prints, schematics, and diagrams and advising team members when needed
  • Taking and maintaining accurate field notes, acting as a resource for team to support accuracy as a group
  • Managing team to meet project timelines in a team environment
  • Maintaining materials and equipment to complete assigned work orders and ensuring team has done the same
  • Install and Repair fiber optic cable, providing training and acting as a resource for questions
  • Bury drops as needed to hit productivity goals, monitor productivity of team
  • Place, relocate and remove fiber
  • Review project plans, specifications, and installation instructions to ensure project is build according to design specifications
  • Properly document work and follow company processes accordingly

  • Perform work in accordance with industry standards. Be familiar with company standards, read and follow design engineers’ instructions and specifications, maintain the scope of work on the project and adhere to all safety procedures
  • Reconcile all issued parts and materials on a daily basis to ensure accurate material usage counts
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs., frequent standing position, along with reaching out with arms. Occasional climb/balance/stoop/kneel crouch/crawl is required with communication
  • Ability to properly use all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks-including Drills, Cable Cutters, Hammer Drill, Splicer, Cleaver, Lasher
  • A high standard of work ethics with an ability to perform all work in a neat and quality manner
  • Ability to adhere to safety guidelines and requirements including wearing all forms of PPE
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions including all weather conditions
  • Work aloft and in close spaces up to 30ft in ladder, or hand climb utility poles using gaffs; work in manholes
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays and evenings
  • Ability to read a print and follow color coordinated routings
  • Safely operate and use bucket truck to complete daily construction assignments as needed
  • Basic daily maintenance of provided vehicle: check fluids, clean and organize vehicle


Education and Experience

  • Previous experience leading a construction / telecom / outside operations team
  • Previous experience in a lineman role and/or similar type position
  • OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety Training
  • CDL Class B with Air Brake Endorsement (preferred, not required).
  • Valid NYS Driver License is required, pre-employment drug test, and pre-employment background check
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; college or technical/vocational school a plus
