The Energy Engineering Manager reports to the General Manager of Energy Solutions and will work closely with the Energy, Design Build and Estimating teams. The Energy Engineering Manager is responsible for providing technical leadership in the Energy business, coordinating with the Energy Sales team on project needs and opportunities and directing the activities of the Energy Engineering team.
This role will also lead preliminary and detailed facility audit project teams on complex projects to identify and develop improvement measure (FIM) project opportunities in western NY.

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Meet regularly with Energy Sales team to track engineering needs across all projects and direct activities of Energy Engineering staff to meet customer needs and deadlines
• Review technical aspects of preliminary and final performance contracting proposal development, including energy benchmarks, proposed technical solutions, energy savings calculations, and cost estimates• Provide guidance to project teams on technical solutions for system renovations and energy conservation measures
• Continual development of energy tools and methods
• Oversee the career development of the Energy Engineering team
• Oversight and quality control of measurement and verification activities for completed EPC projects
• Lead technical aspects of preliminary and final performance contracting proposal development, including energy benchmarks, proposed project descriptions, utility cost savings and preliminary cost estimates
• Determine existing system design, control concepts and operating characteristics with client technical representative and sales team and develop a project scope that meets their needs
• Compare existing building system operating efficiencies to current energy efficiency/code standards and industry best practices. Determine and rank potential opportunities to renovate systems to improve system efficiencies and reduce operating costs
• Create detailed scopes of work for all identified improvement opportunities. Coordinate project scope with internal estimators, vendors and subcontractors to determine total installation costs
• Determine savings interaction from proposed FIMs and expected rate changes
• Create and maintain project development schedule. Manage the on-site activities of project team and subcontractors and coordinate all deliverables to meet deadlines
• Support sales executives in client meetings by presenting technical aspects of project opportunities
• Provide expertise and leadership for technical discussions of project opportunities. Convey engineering knowledge and experience, reassuring client of Danforth’s technical competence and ability to deliver technology solutions

• BS/BA in related discipline is highly desirable and advanced degree is a plus with a minimum of 10 years of relevant work and field experience. Experience with construction industry required.
• Microsoft Application Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge in thermo and fluid dynamics, psychrometrics, heating and cooling load calculations, commercial ventilation and air infiltration, data measurement/metering collection analysis
• Experience conducting field inspections related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment
• Understanding of energy efficiency concepts, HVAC systems, and renewable energy systems
• Experience managing engineering staff is highly desirable
