TITLE: Critical Home Repair Supervisor

FLSA Status: Salaried (Exempt)

Reports to: Construction Manager

 

GENERAL

Flower City Habitat for Humanity is looking for an experienced general home repair person to join our team and help further our vision: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

The Critical Home Repair (CHR) Supervisor, in partnership with the Construction Manager and Family Services Department, is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of home repair projects. Additionally, the Repair Supervisor, in partnership with ReStore, will act as Kitchen Tear Out (KTO) Crew Leader.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties include but are not limited to:

Job Duties for Home Repair Supervisor (70%)

  • Plan, execute, ensure timely completion of all CHR projects
  • Responsible for inspections, scope of work, pricing/budgeting, scheduling, permitting, project planning, execution, and subcontractor/volunteer coordination
  • Supervise, motivate, and develop volunteer crews, interns, and/or construction AmeriCorps members
  • Direct and teach skilled or unskilled volunteers on the jobsite in regard to building procedures, quality and safety
  • Ensure that all work, including work done by subcontractors, is in accordance with approved drawings, current building codes, sound building practices, and within contracted and approved budget and scope of work
  • Ensure proper execution for Issuing purchase orders for services and construction materials
  • Comply with all applicable safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure execution of all relevant reporting and documentation

Job Duties for Kitchen Tear Out (KTO) Crew Leader (20%)

  • Communicates with Deconstruction Coordinator regarding planning, scheduling, and execution of each project
  • Work alongside volunteer crew in performing kitchen tear out
  • Ensure all equipment and supplies are inventoried and delivered to jobsite via deconstruct vehicle and returned
  • Provide overall direction to volunteer team while accommodating donor requests
  • Facilitate a safe and clean jobsite, leaving area “broom swept” upon completion
  • Provide recap of kitchen tear outs to Deconstruction Coordinator

Additional Duties (10%)

  • Participates in other construction activities
  • Participate in media, fundraising, and celebration/recognition events.
  • Support FCHH Development office and initiatives such as attending related events and activities.
  • Act as an ambassador to support the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity.
  • Executes other duties as directed by the Construction Manager

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Broad knowledge base and ability in all aspects of residential home repair
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Quick and efficient workflow in a construction setting
  • Ability to work competently in an office setting when necessary
  • Proven Supervisory / Leadership skills in managing projects and people
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately with donors, volunteers, staff, and homeowners
  • Ability to handle challenging situations tactfully
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Teams

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years minimum of residential home construction/repair experience required.
  • Associates degree and/or any certifications in related field preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience, especially with volunteers, highly preferred
  • Clean driver’s abstract, license and reliable transportation required
  • HFHI Competent Person Certification obtainable upon hire
  • OSHA 10 Hr. Certification (or able to obtain within 6 months of hire)

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Most of the work is done on-site, either on the exterior or interior of residential homes. Daily exposure to dirt, dust, dampness, construction debris, extreme temperatures, construction noises, fumes, and odors from construction materials will occur.
  • Stand or walk for most of the day, including working on uneven surfaces.
  • Apply extensive physical mobility, including reaching, lifting, holding, pushing, and pulling, carrying, bending, climbing stairs and ladders, crawling, kneeling, arm and leg extension.
  • Regularly lift 10 – 35 pounds: Occasionally 75 pounds or more.
  • See and judge distances and space relationships
  • Independently operate motor vehicles
